Services




  • The Animal Medical Center of Fort Oglethorpe is staffed by three veterinarians and a staff of qualified animal caregivers.  Commonly provided services include:
  • Physical examinations
  • Vaccinations
  • Spaying/neutering
  • Parasite control (worms, heartworms, fleas, ticks)                                                            
  • Many other services are offered for sick and injured pets, pets having behavioral problems, and pets needing health certifications for purchase, travel, or breeding.
  • The diagnostic equiptment available at the Animal Medical Center allows management of complex and problematic medical cases.  Nonetheless, referrals to specialists are sometimes necessary.  Decisions regarding level of care and treatment options are always discussed with the owner who is kept informed about the prognosis for their pet.


Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. Diagnostic tools and equiptment include: Hemagen chemistry analyzer, Heska hematology unit, electrolyte unit, 300ma X-ray with automatic film processor, electrocardiogram, ECG monitor, Pulse oximeters, electronic gram scale, endoscope, blood pressure monitor, Tonopen (ocular pressure), glucometer, lactate monitor, wall mounted ophthalmoscopes/otoscopes, and color doppler ultrasound. Therapeutic aids include: Large and small ICU/Oxygen cages, pediatric incubator, oxygen generator, patient heat blocks, I.V. fluid pumps, and electronic lift tables/scales.

Surgical Services: Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. Reserved for sterile surgical procedures, the O.R. features advanced lighting, radiograph viewers, several general surgical packs, orthopedic pack, and ophthalmic pack.



Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. Pulse oximetry and ECG monitors are available. Isoflurane and Sevoflurane anesthesia are available along with a variety of injectable sedative and anesthetic agents.

Imaging Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. Color doppler ultrasound allows imaging of abdominal organs and pregnancy evaluations. Echocardiography is also available for assessment of cardiac changes

Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists. Echocardipgraphy and blood pressure measurements are also available.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, electrolytes, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.



Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. Compunding services are available to make medicatins more palatable and easier to administer to special patients.

Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, tooth extractions and oral surgery.

Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. We have Hills Prescription Diets and Hill's Science Diets in stock and will gladly order other specialty foods on an as needed basis.

Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Boarding: We provide pet boarding in our separate boarding kennel. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.


Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.

Emergency Care: Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies. If the Animal Medical Center is closed, The Emergency Animal Clinic of Chattanooga is open, a veterinarian is on duty, and your pet can be seen. Phone 698-4612
